BLACK SABBATH #1a

La banda cambia su nombre despues de un pprevio cambio al nombre de Earth. Black Sabbath fue una vieja pelicula de terror con Boris Karloff y tambien una de las primeras canciones que ellos escribieron. Durante ese periodo Black Sabbath tenia a un musico dedicado a los teclados. Por ejemplo Rick Wakeman (YES) toco teclados en "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath", Don Airey se unió a Black Sabbath para el album "Never Say Die" y para esa gira. En 1976 y 1977 Jeff Woodruffe toca teclados definitivamente para Black Sabbath en 'Technical Ecstasy' y el consiguiente tour. volver al indice de faqs

(Octubre 1977 - Enero 1978)
Formación: Dave Walker (voz), Tony Iommi (guitarra), Geezer Butler (bajo), Bill Ward (batería)
Ozzy Osbourne abandona la banda debido a serios problemas con el alcohol, la muerte de su padre y el divorcio con su primera esposa. Fue reemplazado por Dave Walker, miembro fundador de Fleetwood Mac. Esta formación solo aparece una vez en BBC Midlys TV en enero de 1978. volver al indice de faqs

Ozzy Osbourne abandona nuevamente en 1979. Existen varias versiones acerca de su partida supuestamente definitiva de Black Sabbath. Estas historias dicen que Tony Iommi lo despidió, que Geezer Butler y Bill Ward fueron a ver a Ozzy Osbourne y le dijeron que Tony Iommi los habia echado o que Ozzy Osbourne se separo de Black Sabbath porque él asi lo decidió. Fue reemplazado por el fundador de Elf y vocalista de Rainbow, Ronnie James Dio.La banda tambien en ese momento decide poner un quinto y permanente integrante para tocar teclados. Geoff Nicholls (ex-Quartz) fue descubierto por Tony Iommi cuando actuo como productor de uno de los discos de la banda de Geoff Nicholls. Una confusa hstoria en estos timpos cuenta que Geezer Butler deja la banda por un corto tiempo antes de la grabación de Heaven And Hell pero su retorno fue muy rapido. En primera instancia Geoff Nicholls debio reemplazar a Geezer Butler pero al regreso de este, el decide permanecer y tocar teclados para Black Sabbath (Metal Hammer 24/89 [Dec 11-29, parte de su edición especial de la sección Metal Decade, Abril 1980]). volver al indice de faqs

(Agosto 1980 - Noviembre 1982)

Bill Ward deja Black Sabbath durante la gira de Heaven And Hell debido a sus gravisimos problemas con las drogas y el alcohol. es remplazado por el ex-baterista de Axxis y Derringer, hermano de Carmine Appice, Vinny Appice quien fue sugerido por Ronnie James Dio. La primera actuacion de Vinny tuvo lugar en Hawaii el 31 de Agosto, si mi memoria no falla. Ronnie James Dio y Vinny Appice se separan de Black Sabbath. Hay muchos rumores acerca de este hecho. Ronnie James Dio fue culpado de ir una noche al estudio de grabacion porque el queria mezclar su voz mas en la parte alta para sobresalir del resto. Ronnie James Dio declaro que Geezer Butler era solamente capaz de tomar una decisión entre un sandwich y una cerveza en un restaurante y nada mas. Para finalizar pareceria como que Tony Iommi y Ronnie James Dioambos, tuvieron problemas con su actitud acerca de cuan importantes ellos eran. Ian Gillan had just claimed that he can't sing because of throat problems he was experiencing.. y after he split the by he confessed that he did the Sabbath thing just for money. The new one on voz is Dave Donato. Due to his awful KERRANG!- Interview he was fired. After that Geezer Butler left the by, having enough of all the Line Up changes. Black Sabbath split. Again they are various rumours including drug problems, problems with his voice y personally problems between Tony Iommi y Glenn Hughes. Glenn Hughes is reemplazado por Ray Gillen who is suggested por Dave Spitz. Ray Gillen is the ex-vocalista of the club by Rondinelli.
